Ten years to the day after walking out of the WWE, CM Punk marched in to the Royal Rumble where he last eliminated John Cena to win the whole thing. Punk went on to challenge Dominik Mysterio in the main event of WrestleMania XL for the World Heavyweight Championship, the very same title that he lost the night he walked out.

The Empress made her grand return in the Royal Rumble match with a new look calling back to her time on the Japanese Wrestling scene. Within minutes Asuka eliminated several top names from the rumble, last eliminating WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus to win. Asuka went on to challenge SmackDown Women's Champion Alba Fyre for the gold at WrestleMania 39.
History was made in the 2022 Men's Royal Rumble when the Phenomenal One walked in at #1 and became only the third person to go the distance and win the entire rumble from #1. Outlasting the likes of Gunther, Edge, John Cena, and even a shock appearance from Shawn Michaels, AJ Styles would go on to main event WrestleMania 38 against Roman Reigns for the WWE Championship.
Returning from an injury that she sustained earlier in the season, Big Mommy Cool stormed into the rumble at number 30 and made quick work of Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair to win the rumble.
